The other negative with Drumbot was that I couldn’t find a 3/4 beat or a swing loop. Also it took some time to load each loop.

The Drumbot does have some great sounding loops but by default they’re not well stuck together and you would have to spend a bit of time rearranging them to get a nice consistent beat and groove. However at the time of writing it appears that you would have to create own 3/4 loop. Monkey Machine also offers a range of different drum kit sounds. It has a shuffle knob which works fairly well on most the user submitted beats to create a swing feel. This Monkey Machine is quite decent with a range of user submitted beats available. However they can be used to get a taste of what it’s like to play with a drum machine.

The following software drum machines are free however they aren’t as good as the paid options. I would highly recommend getting this software. So if you want to go beyond just practicing with a drum machine and create backing tracks with chord changes, bass lines and more. This drum machine software is amazing value as it also includes a sequencer for you to create synth and keyboard parts. If you want to create your own beats and make them quickly and easily one of the best options is Dr Drum. However do you really need to do this for guitar practice purposes? The higher cost of this one is due to the ability to modify the beats.

Similar to the PC Drummer the Acoustica Beatcraft is also a good sounding drum machine with good range of beats covering a range of styles and time signatures suitable for most players. PC Drummer is also a good sounding easy to use drum machine with lots of beats covering a range of styles and time signatures suitable for most players. While it’s very similar to the next 2 options I recommend it as the best choice due to the lower cost and high sound quality. The sound quality of this drum machine is fantastic too. The QuickBeat drum machine is very simple to use and it is easy to find the right beat going for you to get on with your guitar practice.

While there are some OK free drum machine software options for Windows if you’re willing to spend a little money you can get yourself a much better sounding and more user friendly drum machine. You can change the colour of the interface to suit your practice mood though 😉 Again the click is the same pitch for all beats. This is very similar to the other metronome but the BPM selector is smaller and harder to change with the mouse.

The click is the same pitch for all beats. This metronome has a nice user friendly interface with a big start and stop button and easy selection of the BPM (Beats Per Minute) speed. These 2 metronomes work in a web browser making them suitable for a range of Windows PCs and Macs. Drum Machine and Metronome Software Recommendations for Windows PCs
